I just need one that'll work well for college and art
I'm not really a PC gamer so I dont need one made from terminator parts
I don't know where to start looking so any recommendations and links would be useful
I had one in mind but it had horrid reviews so I just thought you peeps could help me

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X270 Tablet/Laptop which is serving me very well. Basically it's a Wacom tablet that is sorta like a discount Cintiq for art and also functions as a laptop. Though my model was $1200 new so not really cheaper than a Cintiq.

Lenovo makes great laptops that are in the cheaper category though. They are quite durable to your normal wear and tear. Mine has fell on the hardwood floor several times and despite the  weak looking joint, the laptop only has a crach in the bottom right corner from repeated drops in my backpack over the years. It also has a pretty good processor for a laptop and good battery. The only downsides to me are the price for a laptop with no dedicated GPU (not that you need that unless you are gaming or rendering I guess) and it tends to get rather hot but I never had overheating issues.
