Underground Potluck- the Sharing of Lesser Known Bands
« on: May 20, 2017, 11:21:46 pm »
Alright so I'm not sure if anyone else is interested but I was thinking about some of the bands I like not having fandoms as big as, let's say, Panic! at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, and My Chemical Romance. Not to disparage them but they're popular, and other great bands... aren't. There's a handful of artists and genres that I like that pretty much nobody else in my circles on the internet like. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's like this, and wants to share these gems, so if anyone else wants to chip in THEIR secret music, I feel that would be really cool.

As for me, to start it off I wanna say Charlotte Newell and Subsistence. I found Charlotte Newell on YouTube, in a video titled "1 Girl, 13 Metal Voices", where she did really good , spot-on vocal impressions of some post-hardcore, melodic death metal, and symphonic metal vocalists. Curious to see more, I browsed through her page and went to her bandcamp and the page for the band, and I love every single one of the songs they did. Basically it's crunchy post-hardcore, ambient piano ballad, and symphonic metalcore with layered whispers, death growls, and airy clean sustained notes. I bought their two albums and I'm really sad that there aren't more bands like them. If you like metal or post-hardcore then definitely look her up; their albums are here- https://subsistencenz.bandcamp.com/ but they also have some other work on their personal bandcamps.

T. Rex - Glam rock band 1967 to 1977 (When one of them died). If you weren't in Britain, they weren't amazingly popular. They sure as heck aren't popular now, but in my personal opinion, they're amazing. Their only really big hit that still is semi-popular today was Metal Guru.

Irving Berlin - A man who got no credit for his music from the early 1900s. Some were "Easter Parade", "White Christmas", "Happy Holiday", "This Is the Army, Mr. Jones", "Puttin' on the Ritz" and "There's No Business Like Show Business" Data from Wikipedia. He also wrote "God Bless America".

P.S. Sorry I'm so old-fashioned.

edit:
Xrig the Wolf - Whom is right here on FT - An amazing guitarist. His music can be found here: https://soundcloud.com/user-2282577/ His skill, in my opinion, (I'm not kidding), rivals that of Mr. Carlos Santana. If you like guitar in any sense, take a look.

Pansy Division - Even though they traveled with green day for a bit they are hardly known, They play queer core punk.
The whole point was pansy division was a helping hand to turn punk rock into its more excepting form while also holding a middle finger to homophobics all over
Also they are very mature in content!!!!!!
