Looking into electric guitars, what to buy and expect?
« on: August 28, 2017, 08:33:06 pm »
I've been wanting to get into the electric guitar, but I don't know where to start-The only experience I've had on a guitar is on my steel acoustic Fenders (I've been playing for a solid two and a half months already and know basic techniques, note coordination, ect.) and if it makes any significance I have also played bass for a good three years already

I'm looking for a guitar that do almost anything (like for practicing, jamming out, ect..) but preferably looking for a guitar that I play metal, rock, and shredding techniques on

I heard Gibson Les Pauls are good and they're usually on sale at Guitar center? What should I expect on a electric guitar and your guys advice? :fox-:P:

What's your budget, is there a specific type of bridge you want? what brands do you prefer?

Budget is up to 850$ max, but nothing really too expensive or specific (looking into beginner guitars, nothing really 'professional is you must)

I really only played Fenders instruments so I don't have any other brand in mind-What kind of bridges are there?

There's many bridges, those are the three common ones in that price range. floyd rose is a bridge with tune locks and a tremolo bar that can go in both directions, the type of bridge on the strat (can't remember what it'd called), and evertune (which i know nothing about.). but i have a few recommendations if you want to play metal!

Thanks! Again don't want to spend too much on a single guitar if I'm barely starting out, but I'm interested in your recommendations-What bridge do you recommend for a beginner?

I really can't recommend anything other than floyd rose, since it's hard to put a guitar with floyd rose out of tune due to the tune locks when playing, but when changing tuning it's pretty easy to get it out of tune.

here's recommendation 1
Recommendation 2
recommendation 3

I'll edit in a few more later if you don't like these recommendations.

i don't personally own them but my friends own those and i get to test out the JS32RM once, they recommend those guitars the JS32RM may be your best bet if you don't go with a B.C. Rich guitar though i don't see why you wouldn't ^^.
Floyd rose bridges do have some downsides so i'd recommend watching some vids too!

Any advice you could give? Would you think the experience from my acoustic would effect my playing positively?

What about amplifiers? Any else I should know about?

Experience is good no matter what type of guitar, and amp wise i'd recommend a fender mustang amp for starting out
