How to not Procrastinate
« on: March 12, 2017, 04:08:51 am »
Lately I've been having a bit of trouble doing assignments (I have to do around 3k words in 2 weeks) and I can't help but procrastinate.

Any tips for how to manage your study to optimise productivity..?

Im a horrible procrastinator and I always found the method where you work intensely for a half hour then take a half hour break helpful ^^ the catch is that you put away your phone, music or any distractions while your working. It helps because you only have to focus and work for a short period of time knowing that there's a break coming. You'd be surprised how much you can get done in a half hour if you're working and not distracted c:

I prefer to have some classical music while I'm working or if I'm doing more math oriented stuff, I like listening to some rock. (because rock makes me focus on math more than classical...? IDK it's weird.) Don't do the music thing if it hinders you though. Different things help different people. I tend to need to have some constant noise so my mind doesn't wander far from what I'm doing (hopefully).

I'm a horrendous procrastinator too.. but I usually end up doing some of my homework in those few moments in class where nothing is going on, you might get like, one or two problems in, a sentence or two, but it really adds up throughout the day. That's how I keep up with most of my work, at least.

One of my favorite methods is to work for 25 minutes, then take a 5 minute break, then work again for 25 minutes, and continue that cycle until the 4th break, where I take a longer one, although the longest I ever took a break was 10 minutes. I suggest no longer than 15 minutes on a break. Then I continue having 5 minute breaks and every fourth a take longer-than-a-five-minute-break until I am done with what I need to get done. In those breaks, I prefer to do some productive stuff, or doing other things I need to do, or just treating yourself to a tumblr break or just goofin' or a sweets break or foods break. Whatever you want!!!.
If you have multiple things you need to finish, and all of them are different subjects, I also suggest that with every 4th break, switch what you are working on. I, personally, am not that good at working at one thing continuously because I fidget a lot and need to move around, but if working on one thing until you get it done is what you feel is best, do it! That is fine too!! Whatever works best!!
I am a really bad procrastinator, and this is my favorite method, and its also the easiest for me.
In those times that you work, you must work to your best ability, and keep distractions at a minimum.
Music helps for me, but it may not for some people. So if you know that you cannot do your work with music, then do not. Background noise can be a lot better!! I suggest getting a white noise app or using a website.. It isn't quite distracting and it honestly is comforting.
I hope this helps!!!
Good luck (o:

a more permanent method that's worked well for me is to do something new!

We procrastinate because we're bored and not in a flow mindset, in my experience doing new things or trying things out has pushed me into a place where i can get into a work flow (that state of mind where work is easy)

sorry for not being able to add much ;~;

but like i was a terrible procrastinator and im not anymore, i used this method pretty heavily.
