Weird shutdown issue
« on: December 02, 2017, 10:49:58 am »
So I got this new laptop about 3-4 months ago, and about a month ago it started acting up. The main issue was that if I closed the lid or put it in sleep mode and came back later and tried to wake it up the computer would wake up but the screen would not turn on and I had to do a hard reset. I managed to fix that today by updating to the latest BIOS, but now it spontaneously shuts down like I just disconnected the battery. It turns on afterwards and works just fine, for a while. I looked up possible solutions already but nothing worked.
Anyone have any clues as to what causes this, any suggestions on how I could fix it?

It's a Dell Inspiron 7567. It magically fixed itself (I think), it didn't turn off randomly and it's been on for a few hours. I think it may be a battery or motherboard issue.

I have a complete different (and older) laptop that had a similar issue. If it happens again leave the laptop unplugged and check to see if it dies before reaching 0%. Mine would shut off around 60%, but I took out and placed the battery back in. Now it's back in it's full glory!

Thanks for the advice!
Turns out the issue was related to the newest BIOS revision and can be solved by changing a setting in Windows.
I did that and now it works fine.
