Not all too many Jaguarundis in the fandom.  It's a pretty obscure species, I only know of two others (and one is half-rattlesnake).  A quick FA search has about three pages, mostly random sketches, a couple Jaguarundi characters, but only a few jag fursonas.  We could totally use some moar jaguarundis, they're one of the smaller "big cats", and pretty fun  :3  Not to mention, we look like ottercats

I put in yellow mongoose on FA and got 69 resuslts. Most of them were pictures, and one of them was Seth. Then I put in Yellow Mongoose Reindeer and only got Seth.
On DA I got 524 results for Yellow Mongoose and for Yellow Mongoose Reindeer I got a fanfiction, and it was because it had a mongoose and a reindeer in it.

Species wise, yes, there are few stegos in the fandom! Color wise, not really. http://www.rovang.org/wiki/stegazord.jpg used a design from a TV show I watched. Loved the color scheme

I would say mine's fairly original.  I've seen a few tigers, white ones are a bit more rare, and red seems to be a fairly common color for dragons, but I havn't seen any hybrids like mine.

Marking-wise, though, I would say it's very original.  I mean, how many other furries have markings on their fursona's face directly inspired by Gene Simmions makeup from KISS?

For me, 'Pink mango fennec' although she's not pure fennec. Generalise.

The closest to Mango (There were so suprisingly little fennecs with my colour scheme. Like, one that came even remotely close) was Pez.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3780729/

It's like gay Mango with more markings. And less glow.

Not even sparklefennechuskyglow things can be original.

Now you try! c:
FA: I didn't get a single hit off of "Black Stallion Superhero," and not too many from "Horse Superhero," except I found this awesome Masked Stallion dude.  A potential sidekick ;3 "Black Stallion" only gave me 350 hits, which is pretty good, considering the sheer amount of people on FA.

When it comes to species, yes I'd say my fursona's fairly original. There's not many avians out there, even less owls, even less Barn owls and even less feral ones. However with regards to personality, not so. All the usual "owl" traits can be found so I can't say I'm being creative when it comes to that.

I was just thinking about this, while the keyword search shows you how many people have characters similar to yours it doesn't nessecarily measure creativity.

There are so many "blender" fursonas out there, or people who've picked weird animals simply because they're weird, or add a whole shitload of wings and colours and super-awesome-firebreathing-ness etc.
By this recconing in some ways just being a plain wolf or fox has it's own originality about it, not being afraid to stand against the hoards of 'snowflakes' each desperate to out unique the last, the whole thing has a tendacy to scream "MARY-SUE!"

Some people might find this fun - http://www.springhole.net/quizzes/marysue.htm
It doesn't nessecarily work too well with fursonas, 'cause a fair bit of the time they don't inhabit their own universe or similar and they are very likely to be based off the creator but if you're showing other symptoms...
I scored 22, pretty middle of the road, my fursona is exactly me, I still included the things about wearing the same clothes and such but Ki ki is definately not free of other Sue-ish tendancies, I'm not trying to attack people with any of these attributes; just saying be wary

If you genuinely feel that your ninja-axolotyl-jaguar-hybrid-with-purple-eyes-that-shoot-lasers-and-has-ten-tails (I might have to draw this :P) is really the right fursona, good for you but I sometimes think people need to reassess what the real value of originality is

*disclaimer: this isn't directed at anyone in particular, just something I've notice on my travels, even I could be accused by some of having a slightly contrived fursona (she's a hybrid, she's blue both common 'unique' points and as outlined earlier) but it's about why you choose attributes (or why they evolve) that matters, not really what they are

Agree. Characters like that can be pretty cool and interesting, but they're not necessarily unique because of it. For example: Sparkledogs, not trying to hate them, but most of them are pretty unoriginal in there attempts to be original. If that makes any sense. I still really like some of them though >>;;

I got a 16 on that. Now I feel special xD

Well, besides being a fox, I think Bundi is pretty original. I have seen a few furries with the same coloring, but Bundi has a more simple yet neat design. I also haven't seen that many furries that are only drawn as a cartoon. :P
I've always drawn Bundi as a fox because it was easy and I've gotten used to it, but I have been contemplating changing her species.

This post has officially made no sense.

I think my fursona is original, its not everyday i meet another Wolfcoon, i forget how i came up with it. two of my fav animals in one i guess x3

Um...hello?

---

I consider my fursona original. I haven't seen a raccoon with patches instead of masks, let alone a wolf/raccoon. Then you add the chartreuse on violet eyes, electric blue bio luminescent skin and chartreuse hair, and overall it's pretty unique.
