District-9 review
« on: November 17, 2009, 03:52:00 am »
First thing I have to say about this movie is that it was EPIC!
The movie is impossible to dislike. If you don't like
sci-fi then it's an action movie, if you're not into action then there's
a little drama mixed in there too. I give it a 5 out of 5. Special effects
in district 9 are very well done, as well as the props used in the movie.
Being shot documentary style was used to great effect.
It makes it more realistic by not having the ship as the focus in all the shots like
a plain sci-fi or action movie would.
Social commentary, good acting, good directing, good special effects, good etc.
GO SEE THIS MOVIE NOW!!!
I have returned...

I kinda personally think that district-9 wasnt a good movie.
But it did make me laugh alot.
Like the whole inter-species prostitution thing, and the rooster fights.
Id give it like 3 out of 5 stars to be honest.

The movie was very suspense full, but left off on a cliff hanger. I give it a 5/5 for the special effects and the plot line. I would deffinatly go and see the sequel, if it gets made.

I watched it a second time 2 days ago because my older brother got the dvd for Christmas.
I would have to say it was my favorite movie of 2009.  The way they advertised it was also amazing, they told you nothing about the plot in the commercials which made you go in knowing nothing (Unless someone spoiled it for you, however that was impossible for me since I had a sneak preview  :D.)
I loved the weapons they had, such cool guns...

The sequel might be District 10!  Even though it would be a lame name, however it was foreshadowed in the movie that the new camp they will be moved to would be district 10 so it makes sense.

I just got to see it on DVD because I missed it in Theaters. It was freakin' epic, and not just because people asploded a lot. (... Granted, that was pretty cool >.>) I also liked the lack of plot shown in the commercials, I started watching it expecting something totally different, and was pleasantly surprised with the documentary style, which had great effect.

Personally, it really irritated me that it went back and forth from being shot like a doc and like a normal movie. I think the movie would be a lot better if they just stuck with the documentary. Plus, I didn't really care for the special effects. They looked very cartoonish to me. I'd give it a 3/5.

I thought that was an interesting concept for a movie. It was creative and different from other movies. The only problem I have are the horrible accents. They are close, but they don't quite fit the bill.
Yep.

Well I thought it was interesting   Documenary shooting and movie shootig messed with my head alot. The end saved it from being a fail.  Special affet s and prop use were good .  I give it a 7.5 out of 10

Tied for my favourite movie of '09, with Avatar.
Really liked what they did with it. Not too generic sci fi, believable, likeable characters.
Storyline held up. And mechs and splodin' people = +10 to awesome.
Bought it as soon as it came out on DVD.

This movie was made because Halo: The Movie fell into development hell, as far as my sources say.
Peter Jackson gave Neill Blomkamp a couple of million and said go nuts practically :P
Things can ALWAYS get worse. No Exceptions.
Hopefully it is absolutely hilarious. Go down laughing.

9/10. The somewhat dissastsifying conclusion stopped it from reaching 10/10

Plus, I think Wikus is awsome
