I liked it until then too. I still kind of like part 1. I hate part 2 though.

Lucky for me all of my anime is sitting next to me:

Full Metal Alchemist (Either one)
Lucky Star
Onigai Twins/Teacher
POKEMON!
Digimon (I stopped watching after the first two seasons cuz I couldn't find it on TV after that)
Wolfs Rain
Rosario+Vampire
. Hack// SIGN (I never watched roots but i hated Legend of the twilight, the manga was cool, but the anime was borderline incest >.<)
Sonic X (though everytime I watch it, it seems to get more childish each time)
Elfen Lied
Tales of Symphonia (Though in personally I think the game was a lot better)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzamia
DNAngle

Okay now its time to turn up the super Yaoi fanboy animes

Junjou Romantica
Gakuen Heaven
Loveless
Ouran HighSchool Host Club (I know its not Yaoi but it may as well be =P)
Gravitation

and yeah, theres my list
Ska is my anti-emo <3
When I'm sad I stop being sad and be awesome instead.

naruto until recently (got to long and people became to powerful)

my fave is full metal alchemist (the original tv show)

then the manga
 then fma brotherhood
Remember that time with that thing when it ran to that place that was in that city and then exploded.  There was also that time when the other guy with that birth mark who killed that one but the other day when that thing happened to that person.

do you remember?
if you do kudos

Anime and you!

So ladies and gerbils, what is it about anime that attracted you? was it the insane outfits? the hilarious characters? the maddening plot twists that killed brain cells and called the very lines of reality into question?

also, on another side note, how about those outfits? do they do anything for ya? Myfriend has a maddening affinity for maid outfits in anime... I...Im a bit more complicated.

so thoughts!?
It seems like humans have forgotten that they are animals at heart... We furries awakened to that truth...

What could that mean?

Both of those. Plus the action sequences. Some anime like One Piece and Soul Eater have great fight sequences. Coupled with the slightly-more-unique character designs in those particular shows, I really like them.

Plus Pokemon has just always been cool. Period. You don't need a reason to watch Pokemon.
Meh.

What attracted me to anime is no cartoon in the US is like it. They have a good story sometimes.
And great characters.
I don't care about the outfits sorry.

^I used to love that show.

Anyway what got me into it was actually an advertisement I saw when I was like 4 or 5 I think. It was for Hamtaro, so I watched some and liked it. Eventually I learned it was anime and I decided to check out other shows. So I watched the ones that people were talking about at school. (Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Dragon Ball Z) Then I started finding other animes.

Now for how I got into One Piece. Since it's my favorite and all. =p

I found One Piece a few years later. It was the 4kids dub, but that was all I knew of the series at the time, so it didn't bother me. I thought it was alright, but I didn't really like it that much yet. Then I saw the Funimation dub and decided to check it out since I liked the voices better, and I heard it was going to be uncut. So I watched their dub of the movie and I loved it. So I decided to read the manga, and I've loved every chapter so far. What really makes me like One Piece is that it has amazing fighting scenes (like Alouette said. And by the way you get a cookie for that comment. :p) and I love the story. You can also feel the emotion in it.It's also the only thing I've ever seen that can literally make me laugh out loud in one scene, and then hoping someone gets their ass kicked in the next, and then later it makes me cry.

TL;DR: I got into anime through a Hamtaro advertisement, and One Piece is awesome.

On the whole, Anime seems to take itself too seriously on the whole, which is a bit of a turn-off for me

This is why Kappa Mikey exists. I wholly and enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who isn't absolutely fond of anime... And anyone who is fond of anime, for that matter. Kappa Mikey incorporates it while also making satire. And Mikey trying to do anime-character expressions? Great gag.
One more time I'll say it, then I'll let it sit: watch Kappa Mikey.
Meh.

What makes me angry about most animated shows in the US is that the linearity of it all is nonexistent; the main characters will do something in one episode and by the end, everything is exactly the same. Anime has a fairly linear storyline and actually make progress in a plot.
