Flickr Badge
« on: March 02, 2010, 06:48:10 am »
Hai, i want to add my flickr badge to my signature, but the code is way to long to be written in the text box, so my question is, can it be done somehow?

If you want to shorten the font, just use the code:

[ .url= Input the URL here] Input an abbreviated text here [/url]

To avoid the code actually displaying for the above example, I had to put in a period before the first url, so don't put that in.

Whut? O.o hehe, i'm not that much in to coding and such, but when creating a badge on flickr, you go through this tutorial/creation process. When done you get this long code you have to copy.

Post it up? If you put the URL where I italicized it and you put the code correctly the long code won't appear, only the text BETWEEN both bracketed texts

The code is:

<!-- Start of Flickr Badge -->
<style type="text/css">
#flickr_badge_source_txt {padding:0; font: 11px Arial, Helvetica, Sans serif; color:#FFFFFF;}
#flickr_badge_icon {display:block !important; margin:0 !important; border: 1px solid rgb(0, 0, 0) !important;}
#flickr_icon_td {padding:0 5px 0 0 !important;}
.flickr_badge_image {text-align:center !important;}
.flickr_badge_image img {border: 1px solid black !important;}
#flickr_www {display:block; text-align:left; padding:0 10px 0 10px !important; font: 11px Arial, Helvetica, Sans serif !important; color:#3993ff !important;}

That thing looks huge. :I I think it's better if you copy-paste it, save it to an image hosting site, then use the code I mentioned or something :I

This is a table.. That's a bit harder. We can do redirects and remove the html comments, though. Problem is, part of that is CSS - something that our forum doesn't really like parsing in bbcode.

Code: [Select]
<!-- Start of Flickr Badge -->
<style type="text/css">
#flickr_badge_source_txt {padding:0; font: 11px Arial, Helvetica, Sans serif; color:#FFFFFF;}
#flickr_badge_icon {display:block !important; margin:0 !important; border: 1px solid rgb(0, 0, 0) !important;}
#flickr_icon_td {padding:0 5px 0 0 !important;}
.flickr_badge_image {text-align:center !important;}
.flickr_badge_image img {border: 1px solid black !important;}
#flickr_www {display:block; text-align:left; padding:0 10px 0 10px !important; font: 11px Arial, Helvetica, Sans serif !important; color:#3993ff !important;}
#flickr_badge_uber_wrapper a:hover,
#flickr_badge_uber_wrapper a:link,
#flickr_badge_uber_wrapper a:active,
#flickr_badge_uber_wrapper a:visited {text-decoration:none !important; background:inherit !important;color:#3399FF;}
#flickr_badge_wrapper {background-color:#333333;border: solid 1px #000000}
#flickr_badge_source {padding:0 !important; font: 11px Arial, Helvetica, Sans serif !important; color:#FFFFFF !important;}
</style>
<table id="flickr_badge_uber_wrapper" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="10" border="0"><tr><td><a href="http://www.flickr.com" id="flickr_www">www.<strong style="color:#3993ff">flick<span style="color:#ff1c92">r</span></strong>.com[/url]<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="10" border="0" id="flickr_badge_wrapper">
<tr>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.flickr.com/badge_code_v2.gne?show_name=1&count=5&display=random&size=t&layout=h&source=user&user=46683257%40N02"></script>
<td id="flickr_badge_source" valign="center" align="center">
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"><tr>
<td width="10" id="flickr_icon_td"><img id="flickr_badge_icon" alt="CraequeFurry's items" src="[url]http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4007/buddyicons/46683257@N02.jpg?1263946248#46683257@N02" align="left" width="48" height="48">[/url]</td>
<td id="flickr_badge_source_txt"><nobr>Go to</nobr> CraequeFurry's photostream</td>
</tr></table>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</td></tr></table>
<!-- End of Flickr Badge -->

May as well be:

Code: [Select]
<table><tr><td><a href="http://www.flickr.com" id="flickr_www">www.<strong style="color:#3993ff">flick<span style="color:#ff1c92">r</span></strong>.com</a><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="10" border="0" id="flickr_badge_wrapper">
<tr>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.flickr.com/badge_code_v2.gne?show_name=1&count=5&display=random&size=t&layout=h&source=user&user=46683257%40N02"></script>
<td id="flickr_badge_source" valign="center" align="center">
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0"><tr>
<td width="10" id="flickr_icon_td"><img id="flickr_badge_icon" alt="CraequeFurry's items" src="[url]http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4007/buddyicons/46683257@N02.jpg?1263946248#46683257@N02" align="left" width="48" height="48"></a></td>
<td id="flickr_badge_source_txt"><nobr>Go to</nobr> CraequeFurry's photostream</td>
</tr></table>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</td></tr></table>

Do me a favor: If it doesn't look like BBCode, don't put a [url][/url] tag into it. K, thanks.

Next, we take a look at that and try to convert what's left to BBCode, as that is our forum's native language... Which I'll do after class (Sorry, when you've got lessons, you've got lessons.)

EDIT: It will be similar to Natasha's signature, with the following chunks:

Code: [Select]
[img]http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4007/buddyicons/46683257@N02.jpg?1263946248#46683257@N02[/img]
[img]http://www.flickr.com/badge_code_v2.gne?show_name=1&count=5&display=random&size=t&layout=h&source=user&user=46683257%40N02[/img]

-->

... And the rest of those are actually flat links, except for the Flickr icon. I don't have time, I sincerely apologize.

*cusses* And that's broken. I'll help later.

EDIT 2:

Look at this line, please:
Code: [Select]
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.flickr.com/badge_code_v2.gne?show_name=1&count=5&display=random&size=t&layout=h&source=user&user=46683257%40N02"></script>

This is Javascript. It was recently used to abuse Hale, actually - it's a language used to script web pages. It's also (more or less) banned on FT in User Spaces.

That is your image stream, in the badge. Trying to rerender that using img tags gives me nothing. -->

Most likely, you could do a static one here on the forums, but that one is going to be impossible, no matter what you try. Experts in web design may know more tricks than I do. That's just what I know.

I'm sorry I couldn't help you with this one.

Totally okay, also talked with natasha about it, and it's pretty much impossible and would increase the loading time of FT (where my badge might show up), so imma find an other way/site to promote myself :P
