The End
« on: March 09, 2010, 12:08:56 am »
Well, my dads worried about the end of the world! There has been a massive spike in earthquakes in several foreign countries since November of last year. His response? "The bible says-"
Need I go on? What does everyone think about these quakes? Are they connected to the end of the world?

I've also noticided these spike in earthquakes. End of the world, no. Quite honestly it's just the earth doing what it does. I personally don't think the end of the world is any time soon.

It is like hurricanes.

Remember the 2004 and 2005 seasons?
Charlie, Ivan, Dennis, Katrina, Rita, Wilma, etc.
And El Nino, such as 1988 and 1997.

Meteorologic and geophysical changes happen in cycles and can vary in time.
We are past the last Hurricane cycle, but we have entered a point where it is not the weather, but the earth itself that is going through changes.
That being said, I do believe there will be more earthquakes (And let's not forget The Indian Ocean Earthquake and the China Earthquake) for a time, then the earth will settle back down, and we'll just have the few and far between bad earthquakes.

You forgot Hurricane Isabel. My power was out for two weeks.

Oh I remeber the hurricane seasons so well, i went through every single one of those hurricanes. And he's right the earth will continue to rumble for a while then it will settle back down.

You forgot Hurricane Isabel. My power was out for two weeks.

While not debating Isabel's power (as it was removed from the 6 year name cycle), Isabel was in 2003.
For the more hitting facts, I used only storms within the two years I listed.

However, you do bring up a valid point. It is about every 10-15 years the studies I have heard about show, that we get a cycle, which itself can last a few years.
So indeed you are correct in naming Isabel as a factor in that study.
