One for me is being outside, when it is completly quiet. Preferably between 40-55 degrees. And with a clear or slightly sky.

Another is listening to music.

I relax myself in a weird way. First off, I gotta have nothing to do and a lot of spare time. Then, I lay down and envision things. It doesn't even matter what, just as long as it's captivating, like a really good movie, but not tense. Usually I envision things much like one would see looking through a kaleidoscope. Sometimes, however, when I've got a great idea for a story in the making, I'll envision the story over and over from different perspectives, thinking about whether or not it would make a good one. Sometimes I'll make up random tunes (which I'm horrible at, by the way) and envision swirling colors or something that matches the tune.

Bottom line: Envision something. Whatever you want. I find that the effect works best outside, in whatever environment you're envisioning. Usually for me, that would me the woods out back, with the moss and the ferns and the soft ground and everything. It looks like it's right out of twilight or something.

Haha Nox it actually had the same effect on me. Sorry if you like Twilight, Harlen.

But anyway, Harlen reminded me that I also do songwriting and singing (even though I'm horrible right now, but I'm trying to improve.) to relax.

Long, hot baths with bath salts, accompanied by soft music playing in the background and a good, long book to read.

I tend to day dream often. I kick my legs up on a table or desk and think of ideas. Stories, ideas, and such. Although I have gotten some strange looks for doing it in public because I'll often start laughing when I do this. I also enjoy art.

Long baths that are near steaming, but not too hot. Just really hot. c:

Or hanging out at the Flying M with a bunch of friends. <3 That's really relaxing for me.

The worst time was in England I was waiting for my sister at a mall(she lives in England btw) and to pass the time I laid out on a bench and started to day dream. I got so relaxed that I burst into a fit of laughter. Many people immedialty moved away. I think a few said something along the lines of 'Stupid American'

Just to clarify, I'm not really one for twilight, my sister is. I actually hate it, but it was the first thing that came to mind.

And back on topic, I can relax very well also by scribbling. It doesn't have to be deciferable, it just makes me feel better.

Though I must say.

It is the most freaking calming. To confuse people. And I'm not thinking, "Those werewolves strike throughtout the cereal," I'm thinking, "Crazy stuff, kid" and "Elizabethan in the biggest knot you've known."

I really relax on the 5 hour bus drives. I never bring a lot of stuff to pass the time on the bus, only my mp3-player and something to drink. I just sit there while listening to music, daydream and looking out of the window. I got nothing else to do, nothing else to worry about and nothing else others can tell me to do under those 5 hours the trip takes. And that's relaxing for me.
Though, it might take time for others to get used to do this. I've taken those 5 hour bus drives a lot over the past 6 years, so I'm already used to them.
I'm confused, oh wait, maybe I'm not.

I'm relaxed when I listen to songs by Porcupine Tree (except Fear of a Blank Planet >.>)

Also, when I take nice walks in sunny, cool weather. Much like today :)

Talking to people usually makes me relaxed. I don't know why though...

Oh yea, and writing music.

*jumps* Holy crap, SLI is back! You get a cookie just for surprising me, man.

*coughs and acts like nothing happened there*

For me, there's a lot of things... I love going moonlighting, love walking barefooted in the woods, the view of the city in te middle of the night calms me down for some odd reason... Umm.... I won't go into detail, but any night I'm in the same house as Anu usually turns out to be good for my health. Coding still brings a calm and focus like no other for me, for some odd reason... That's about it.

It depends on what's got me tense.  If I'm angry- which happens somewhat often, due to being a hormone-based life form who is also a political and social malcontent- I tend to engage in the following routine: Listen to angryraygerawrkillsmashgraaar music.  Sing along until I stop quivering.  Giggle to self.  Listen to amusing music.

If it's a game or something else that I'm just not doing well with, I typically listen to soothing music, something quiet and melodious.  And probably engage in what I call "jovial swearing"; that is, swearing without rancor, with a silly grin on my face.

And if it's something more serious, like passing out, then I crawl over to the nearest soft object (a chair, my bed, my dog, a pillow...), curl up on it, listen to music and brood.

I must agree with this, whole-heartedly.  Not only does my somewhat deranged sense of humor prescribe such on a daily basis; I, too, find that it can be quite a pleasant (and therefore, calming) experience.

Hiking. It's the most relaxing thing evar, because you're far away from people, technology and nearly everything that's stressing. Er, Unless your on a busy trail or a really, really dangerous one. That kinda destroys it.
