For the nerdy and narrative-obsessed amongst us!

Mine:
Pink Floyd - The Wall (of course)
Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. II: Scenes From a Memory
The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute / The Mars Volta - De-loused in the Comatorium
Mastodon - Crack the Skye / Mastodon - Leviathan
Ayreon - The Human Equation

Perhaps forgetting a few... but your turn! :)

Octavarium by Dream Theater
Four Seasons to a Depression by Nocturnal Depression
Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death) by Marilyn Manson

The only ones that really come to mind. ^^

Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson & 2112 by Rush are my favorites. They're the only ones I llisten to on a regular basis.

Tool actually doesn't have any concept albums. :/

So, my list would be:

Octavarium-Dream Theater
Fear of a Blank Planet-Porcupine Tree
Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a Memory
Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence-Dream Theater
The Incident-Porcupine Tree
Demon Days-Gorillaz
Ki/Addicted!/Ghost/TBA-Devin Townsend
Ghost Reveries-Opeth

Scenes from a memory - Dream Theater (In all honesty, I think it's one of their weaker albums, which is however, like saying that a person who comes 8/10th in the weight lifting olympics is weak - still a bloody good album)
The incident - Porcupine tree
Leviathan/Blood Mountain/Crack the sky - Mastodon

Really? It's the only album of theirs I really consistently listen to, I tried my hands with a few others but none of em quite lived up to SfaM, in my opinion.

But maybe I need to give things a second go!

I kinda agree with Acrisuis. I just don't like the style of SFAM as much as their other albums. Octavarium still remains my favorite!

Yea, for me, bizarrely, SFAM and Images and words to me seem to be weaker albums than the rest, inspite of being the two most popular among fans. My faviroutes are Awake, Six Degrees, Octavarium, and Black Clouds

Would the Beatles' White album count? I know they're a mainstream rockband, but so many songs on the white album were different generes. It had blues, pop, folk, and expairamental stuff.  Another really wacky album is Paul McCartney's Liverpool sound collage, it's 30 minutes of exparamental gibberish  :lol-fox:

I've been listening to Kraftwerk's Tour de France Soundtracks lately.  It's...odd, & in French, so a little hard to understand(I don't know French), but still quite awesome.

I've been listening to Thirteenth Step by A Perfect Circle a ton recently. It's amazing, in every way. It's so emotionally powerful, and the lyrics are beautiful. It's waaay worth listening to, already one of my favorite concept albums.

Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Daft Punk - Discovery/Inter5tella 5555
Gorrillaz - Demon Days
My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade
Pink Floyd - Animals
Pink Floyd - The Wall/The Final Cut (they go separately together, I promise)
Planet P. Project - Pink World
Roger Waters - Radio K.A.O.S.
Rush - 2112

And, just saying, for those uncertain as to whether or not an album is a concept album:

  • Award - Beta Tester
Isn't this where...?

One of the best concept albums that really present the story in a clear way is

Devin Townsend Presents: Ziltoid the Omniscient

It's about an alien invading earth in search of the greatest cup of coffee. It's got a great story arch, and the music has a common theme as well. It's just totally sweet! I highly recommend it!
