Final Fantasy XIII
« on: May 25, 2010, 01:56:24 pm »
As I type this, I am fighting the final boss.
I have to say that this recent final fantasy is by far the best Square Enix game and the best video game I have ever played.  Amazing graphics, a deep story, a fun, easy battle system and innovative tweaks in the usual FF formula.  You could say Square rebuilt FF13 from scratch... And they excelled at it.

One of the onyl things that drives me crazy is the reliance on the Datalog.  If you don't read the datalog, you'll miss out on components of the story that weren't mentioned or were very vague in cutscenes.

What do you all think? Best game ever, right?

HAHAHAHA, I'm sorry but the best? I don't think so. Albeit the game is very well-made and developed, it couldn't possibly be the best. It was, in reality, too easy. Too predictable at some points, as well. Also, I felt that the game was rushed at some points.

WARNING SPOILERSSS MOD EDIT: Highlight to read
For example, when Fang told them that the marks have eyes that open and grow more arrows, I expected the guys to at least check up on each others' marks every now and then. Not once did they ever mention it again unless it was used as part of the story-line. They didn't check to see how far along it was or anything. What the hell? I'd be worried sick about my imminent death.

END SPOILERSSS
The game was nice, though. I did enjoy it. Just wouldn't consider it the best.  :fox-;):

You've got a point :3 when Fang told Vanille she was the one who attacked cocoon to make Vanille's eidolon come out, it was really random and quick.

Yes, seriously. :/ Also, the way people got their Eidolons was pretty random as well. At first it made sense because they felt strongly about something, but then towards the end it was just at random moments.

Also, I feel that the whole Eidolon thing was stolen from Persona, lol.

Yeah, it was a little generic.  I wish they kept to the eidolon systems they had in VIII and IX.  :/
Hope's eidolon was the hardest battle of the game.  Just sayin' XD
You want to know what else kinda sucked? The whole 20-hours till you can choose who's in your party.

I KNOOOOOOOW! I was so annoyed at that! It was okay though. Lol, I love how at first, 60CP would be a lot, but then you'd be extremely angry if you had won 10k CP.

Hahaha, precisely. ;) Go Triple Attack for the break gauge, and then Cerberus for  when it's broken. It's sooooo good against the... Dang, I forgot what they're called. The turle-looking ones that are defended against everything until you break the gauge? I go triple RAV and then when it breaks, triple COM. :)

That does make everything quite simple  :fox-:P:
I was resorting to conventional paradigms, like diversity, making a sandwich as I waited for the damn thing to stagger (the turtle's name escapes me too).

Hey, were you ever able to beat one of those massive Gran Pulse Adamantoises? I saw a vid of somebody beating one and I couldn't believe it.  That thing does 10,000 right off the bat!  How was that guy the exception?

Oh lol those guys aren't too hard. What you have to do is you have to... Damn, I forgot what it's called but it takes it down so that it Staggers it. Then I just keep using Death with Vanille because they're not immune to it, lol.

Death is beast :3 I love how it still does massive damage even on a miss!

Hey, after you beat Orphan, your crystarium expands, right? How the heck are you supposed to expand that crystarium then?

It doesn't go past level 5. You can get a fourth accessory slot for it, but that's it. The Crystarium does get maxed out. >.<

I still haven't finished, even though I got it the day it was released. (I don't have my own TV...) I wouldn't say it's the best one either. I have played it for about 10 hours now, and I can say the first 10 hours for other games in the series were better, however, it is still a great game. My favorite character is Snow. I'm pissed that he's not in the party right now.

Hahaha, you don't get to play him for a good twenty hours. When you do though, his return is so kick-ass. :)
