Rap Music
« on: June 15, 2010, 03:49:19 pm »
I haven't seen any topic along this line, so has anyone heard any good rap music? I don't mean that fake crap like Akon, not that its bad, its not Rap, it's RnB. I mean 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., and Cypress Hill, stuff like that.

I'm more a fan of avante-hop (if you will)
such as:

Doseone, cLOUDDEAD, Why?, Alias, Buck65, Busdriver, Dalek, EL-P, Food for Animals, Two Fingers, Sole, etc

People who do a bit more with the genre than just kick-kick-hi hat-bitches-and-ho's, ya know? (no offense, naturally, to those you listed).
Trust me. I'm a homosexual a bag of cheese a cult leader satan made of DIAMONDS a doctor a furry.

Behance! (Design and photography stuffs)
This FurAffinity account I never use! (which is generally horribly out of date, ahem)

System of a Down is not really rap rock. They're more progressive and hard rock, with Middle-Eastern Influences.

I really don't like rap, but there are two exceptions. Rage Against the Machine, and Gorillaz. I've liked Gorillaz since I was a young kid, and it's always stayed with me. Rage I can enjoy because of their innovative rock sound, and awesome lyrics.

But most of the Gorillaz's stuff is techno, there is some good rap in them like Clent Eastwood, and I feel Good Inc. but most of its techno

I only rap I really listened to was Eminem.  I got the Slim Shady LP and Encore.  I listened to Run DMC once and The Game, but that was a really really long time ago.  To be honest, I really don't like rap anymore.

I've always been big on my rap music: Eminem, 2Pac, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg and loads others.
People always vary in music tastes, I'm always accepting.
But Akon? Whoever likes him needs help. And Fast.

cage does some smooth hip-hop.

snob scrilla does a mix of shades of gray, but he's got some good rap in there.

i don't really see scrilla really fitting in with the style this thread seems to be establishing but hey why not, there's a couple additions.

WU TANG, Tu Pac, and Eminem. The only three rap artists I will ever listen to. Otherwise I hte the genre outside of these guys (Sorry, to each his own right?)

(Brace yourselves, massive necro-post and double post.)

So, 3 years can really change a lot. In fact Hip-Hop/Rap has become one of my all time favorite genres. It kind of makes me sad that as a genre, it doesn't get the respect it deserves. My taste has definitely grown for experimental/alternative hip-hop (i.e Danny Brown, Captain Murphy, Death Grips, etc.)

Cess crew, Tech n9ne, Brotha lynch hung, kriz kaliko, mostly people associated with them make really good rap songs that aren't just chorus like most these days:p

The only rap music I know I purposely listen to is Eminem. I'm not sure how popular he is in America but I got laughed at for listening to him because "he's old"... :suspect:
