My Drum Covers
« on: June 17, 2010, 07:41:37 pm »
I've posted multiple of my drum covers to Youtube. I think the best way for me to improve is to get feedback. Check some of them out (I recommend "Schism"), and tell me what you think! Also, if you have any recommendations on how to record better, let me know :D

Stinkfist (Tool) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjdQuJr-QKA

Shallow (Porcupine Tree) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_dEiZlsx8U

Schism (Tool) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gr5Z_UXODw

Hard to Handle (The Black Crowes, this one is full band) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1cIz2e9aP0

I Walk Beside You (Dream Theater) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmKLvBjzc3M

Joker and the Thief (Wolfmother) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4vuWArLxek

I'll be posting more here soon! Thanks! :)

Nice drumming my friend! I thought you played through Stinkfist with great accuracy. Keep up the good work. :)

Thank you both!

I'm currently working on covers of "Life" by Devin Townsend, and "The Root of All Evil" by Dream Theater

If anyone ever wants me to cover something specifically, I'd be happy to :3

Schism does have a really sweet bassline :3

Here's my "I Walk Beside You" (Dream Theater) cover. It's pretty good, I did some stick twirling towards the beginning. The video is processing at the moment, but it should be done soon.

Thanks a ton Tibalt! And yeah, that fill just came out of nowhere :P

Here's a cover of "Joker and the Thief" by Wolfmother. I don't really like them, but it's a fun song. As always, FEEDBACK! :D

EDIT: I also have a new drum cover up:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylaKAK6xWtE

"No Excuses" by Alice in Chains. It's a super-chill song, with a very cool drum track!

Just giving this thread a bump, don't mind the double post!

Here's two more covers, I think that the first is one of my best!

"Blackest Eyes"-Porcupine Tree http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdHm1at3ph8

"Rusty Cage"-Soundgarden http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7IVRQsHwXA

Check them out, and tell me what you think! Be completely honest :D

EDIT: Here's a third: "Trains" by Porcupine Tree http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clMOgZcwZNs

Also, were you self taught? or did you take lessons?

I take a lesson once a week, I've been taking them for little more than a a year now. I consider lessons something to help me get a strong foundation, while I develop a style on my own!

Oh okay, that's cool. I can see it now... You in spot lights playing the drums with the world watching you on their 3d televisions, millions of fans faint at your presence, but of course, the dumb bass player or singer sitting there in your way... But you'll still be there xD

Ahhh...that would be amazing XD But, you gotta give the other members their shot as well. Just like Mike Portnoy can't be ALL of Dream Theater...well, he can, but that would be no fun :c

Okay now, back on topic.

Here's my last drum cover for the summer, and easily one of my best. Porcupine Tree's "Halo", with a pretty cool oddly-timed section in the middle.
