Thawspace is a component of Deep Freeze, a highly effective administration application.  My school used it on all Windows PCs to prevent any unauthorized changes from being made, and I worked in the IT department my last two years of school, so I had to learn how to deploy/admin it.  Upon rebooting, it reverts the entire system to its last saved state.  Unfortunately for you, DeepFreeze is exceptionally good at what it does, there's no bypassing it without an administrative password, or without clean-formatting the drive and rebuilding the system from scratch.

If the school uses them then I know of a way to get around it; just install another OS (I put Ubunut 11.10 on some of the school computers I use and it's still there, and with it I'm able to delete things and not have them reappear (such as Netsupport)).  You need to be able to boot from something other then the HDD though, but at my school there's no password on the BIOS, so that's easy.

PictBridge.  It's more of a protocol than a program/application, but it really irritated me tonight.  For the unfamiliar, PictBridge is claimed to be a universal standard for printing directly from a camera to a home printer.  In theory, every printer with a USB host port (like for thumb drives) supports it, and nearly every camera made in the last 7-8 years does as well.  Even most cellphones support it if the printer is equipped with Bluetooth (seriously, even non-smartphones do it, try it sometime).  So, while it's not something a tech-savvy user would have much use for, I discovered a legitimate use for it tonight.

In my work, I'm occasionally faced with baseless or outright false complaints from customers, and since I'm entirely solo, I have no way to defend myself except through taking my own photos.  I had one such complaint this morning, and a photo required much more camera than my phone, so I grabbed my big SLR camera and a high-powered external flash.  Unfortunately, I forgot to switch the file format of my camera to give me a JPEG file, I had RAW files instead, which require special processing.  Since I want to present these to my boss today, I didn't want to go to the hassle of firing up Lightroom or Photoshop to print them.  But then I remembered that my camera supports PictBridge, so I decided to give it a shot.

I tried it on my shiny new laser printer first, because it's the best printer in the house and it's at my desk.  Neither the printer nor the camera seemed to recognize a connection.  Turns out my printer doesn't support PictBridge, for no apparent reason.  Perhaps because it's a business printer, and PB is almost exclusively a home-user product?

Next I tried my sister's printer, it's the second-nicest in the house.  Not only does it not support PictBridge either, it doesn't even have a USB port.  Seriously?  A printer made in the last couple years that doesn't have a USB port for thumbdrives?  Bizarre.

So, I tried my mom's printer, which used to be mine.  And it worked, until I actually tried to print something.  After one line of printing, the printer locked up.  I didn't even know a printer COULD lock up.  It just suddenly started rapidly strobing all of its indicator lights simultaneously, and refused to respond to anything, even the power button.

I realize that the very notion of printing photos is kinda on the way out, but when a standard, easy to implement photo-printing protocol exists and had widespread adoption on nearly every digital camera in use (including phones and super-cheapo compact models), it really shouldn't be this hard to say "Hey, I'll print a picture today".

And now I have to perform raw conversion and post-processing on these shots so I point out to my boss that it's impossible to throw a newspaper onto this lady's porch, and she doesn't need it there anyway because she doesn't actually have steps, like she claims to.

EDIT:  At least I found a solution, and something I've been wanting ever since I got this camera, thanks Microsoft!  http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26829

Same with Sprint.
The only way to delete it is to root the phone, but I don't really want to do that, because one slip up could brick the phone.

Maxim. It's a Machine Learning algorithm. The program is a bit picky. The biggest problem is preformatting the data and then scrambling the data before entry. Repeat this process about fifty times to get a decently average sorting percentage. FFFFFFFFFFFF

Actually, it's an Android thing across all carriers.  Since each manufacturer can build their own Android distribution for each phone, anything that ships with that distribution can't be uninstalled.  This is partly to protect critical system applications like Gmail, since they're all classified as applications with no other distinction between OS components and extra software.  Microsoft Windows does something similar, you can't uninstall tools like Windows Fax & Scan or Internet Explorer, even though they're functionally no different from any other application you might install later.

WINDOWS! Why you no like my printer? I'm so over reinstalling drivers every time I go to use my printer. And yet I'm too lazy to figure out why it happens.
