'Song' Concept - "Caveman Music"

FA Description -
Quote
So, my sister (who's in college) told me a few weeks ago that, as a Senior Project, she and a friend might write a Musical about the evolution of Mankind (She's a Musical Theatre Major). Being a percussionist, she wanted me to write "Caveman" song with grunts and stuff. Steve Reich's "Clapping Music" immediately came to mind, and I drew this up last week. So yeah, it's just a concept. I might record it with myself once I think of a variation pattern at [A]. And I'm not sure if it'll get a name other than "Caveman". If anyone wants to take this and record it themselves, please tell me and send me a copy. Thanks

Yeah, it's exactly as the description says.  It's also my first time writing for this kind of style, so I just thought I'd see what people think.  I'm not going to plug this in to Finale for anything but making the sheets look pretty, since I don't actually have the sounds needed to make a "recording" of it.

Thoughts?  Comments?  Concerns?

I can't read music so to me it looks like hiroglyphics (sic)

I'm sure it's good though :D

I don't think cavemen were smart enough to use syncopation  :fox-:P:

I'm not familiar with seeing musical notation for rhythm stuff, but it looks ok since you're really going for that caveman vibe.

Also, are those pitches or just markers?

Well, at the top there's a little key for performers.
From top to Bottom -
Grunt/Yell
Clap
Arm/Chest pat
Leg Pat
Foot Stomp

Well, yeah, Syncopation probably wasn't around back then, but...  If I were to produce this scene, I'd say this -
3 Cavemen sitting around, nothing doing.  And somehow they start grunting and clapping at each other until it just starts in to the rhythms in the sheets.  And if it's hard to see, the first two bars on the second line just have the first and second groups alternating sounds to form straight Sixteenth Notes while the third does something else.  Still, it's just a concept and will probably change a lot.

Sorry, I didn't see that.

Yeah, I guess birth of music would have gone a little bit like that.

or maybe my writing on staff paper is just kinda hard to read...  At least I can still read it when I need to make it pretty

Ah. Well it seems an interesting idea, anywho. I may give a shot at trying to do it, but it depends just how buggered I am with time. Plus counting is generally pretty irritating a process with me. :p
