Selling your fursona?  Want my honest opinion?

That is dumbest thing I've heard in a long time.  Asking to buy someones fursona means you have no imagination.   Its not that hard to make a Fursona.

It's the hypothetical question, "Would you sell your fursona?", not "Would someone buy your fursona?".

I believe I can part with my current one.. Well the design maybe. I've been having huge issues finding myself, and what is best to represents. me. Don't get me wrong, my current one has many qualities and characteristics like me. But I just don't think she would represent the real "me". I would never sell my fursona/character. Even though I'm retiring her to a OC so I can find a suitable fursona, but I dislike the idea strongly. Even regular characters I have has a special space in my heart. Just, no.

I honestly don't know yet.. I still love her and all. I just feel it's hard to part with her. I've been considering on keeping her longer since she's still a part of me.

You might as well ask, "Can you part with a part of yourself?" when it comes to me. Part of that connection is from therianthropy. More on that in a moment.

You might as well ask everyone: "Is there a price at which you would be willing to sell your innermost dreams and fantasies?"  ~ a lot of us, more intrinsic, involved, or vetted in the fandom find that it's more fun to be the person you want to be instead of who you really are, under it all. Sometimes the difference is superficial... Sometimes, it's something you were born with. For example, both Che'ro and Sar'ras are outspoken, albeit in different ways ~ not one of my qualities until I joined this site and a few other events happened, but I wanted to be so badly, I just didn't understand how. I still struggle in two areas, though ~ tact and knowing when to clam it up again.

Anyway, I can't sell Che'ro because he's, in so many ways, my body and my affect. I modelled him after those, but made him so much stronger in will and relentless in retribution that I myself tend to be - and that's how I wanted it. There's a part of me that wishes that would work in the real world, but there are few people who understand that for what it really is, and mistake it for outfacing coldness.

I can't sell Sar'ras, because Sar'ras is, again, in so many ways, my dreams and desires underneath it all. her hair, her gender, her body, her unending kindness, the people that love her and know she's there without using her as a crutch, her intense sense of right and wrong... It goes on and on and on. Asking me to let go of her is like saying "Hey, give up on who you want to be and go be a deadbeat for the rest of your life. Say hi to your parents for me while you're there."

I can't sell Cre'na, because Cre'na is where my most primal and carnal desires and existance are portrayed. Someone without a definite form, or home, or even location at any given moment... That's me, in so many ways that I try to keep hidden and private. He's also so weak and so hard to communicate with and understand - again, two things that I share with him. It's like saying, stop being a human. It can't really be done, can it?

As to all three, they were made after my theriotype, and that was intentional. It was intentional that they represent different parts of me, and it would be impossible, I realized after trying several times, to represent that as one single being. The answer is a NO! for reasons represented in this post.

I mean, honestly, as stated in a post, i'm too lazy to get, it's easy to make a fursona, BUT, if someone has a fursona you really like,
and lets say it's yours, and someone was like " would you be willing to sell me the design of the char I'm in love with it, and I don't wanna make a rip off of yours", I don't see anything wrong with that.
and if it was someone who would really love and draw the character, theres no problem.
I mean, you just design another fursona.
if you have a fursona, are you gonna keep the it the same, forever or are you going to redesign it eventually, same thing.
in my mind anyway
you're selling the design
I have had my previous fursona since for years, and I've resigned him so many times, hes not even the same character, and now, I pretty much have a new fursona.
Santi used to be my furry self, but now zack has taken that role, Santi is just my fav character.
but if someone wanted to buy him and love him, they could have him...
for a very high price. but a price none the less.
I cried tears you'll never see.
So fuck you, you can go cry me an ocean,
And leave me be

Nope. Frankly, I would be unable to because it would be pretty much the same thing as giving away a different me.

You might as well ask, "Can you part with a part of yourself?"

Basically in response to this, "Yes, yes I would."

Sometimes I just wish I could get rid of some aspects about myself, both those seen in a positive light by people and those seen as negative, thus sometimes I wish I could just get rid of my fursona and get a new one. Izzy is technically an ideal of sorts, but sometimes I wish I didn't have certain ideals, the keyword is "sometimes". They are ideals yes, which is quaint to say that I want different ones, but I guess I kind of want to have something else idealized, but have no idea what. I Normally just deal with it as it is and enjoy what I have, the good and the bad, but at times both just seem to irritate me. Kind of odd to say but eh I'd give away Izzy if I was in one of those moments, then probably regret it later. In the same way I wouldn't mind being someone else, taking their good and bad for sometime, but regret it ultimately after it was too late.

I don't think I could do it...
I might one day give her to someone, it's not that I could never move past her but it'd have to be someone I really like and trust, my fursona is something of me and I'd be terrified of her/me ending up in "certain situations"
Hopefully the above post made sense...

This makes no sense. A fursona is a non-material concept - how on earth do you buy and sell such things anyway?

It's the hypothetical question, "Would you sell your fursona?", not "Would someone buy your fursona?".

Anyways: No, I can't imagine myself ever doing that. I think I would be pretty distraught if I did. My fursona is a strong representation of my personality in my favourite animal (which is one of the animals I relate to the most), he represents my love of nature, he represent where I would like to be and what I would like to do. For what is just supposed to be a character to mask my real-self in this fandom, I really like him.

I sort of misunderstood the question.

I can part with my fursona.

Frostblind is just an imaginary thing.  Frostblind may represent some of my personality but that is it.

I could close my eyes and make another fursona.

Think Superman and other franchises owned by such giants as DC Comics, MARVEL, Microsoft, 2K, and &c.
Superman's very concept is currently under the copyright/ownership of DC Comics.
In 2020, the century-long-duration of that copyright ends because it expires, and Superman becomes a Public Domain property. In the past, the Superman concept has been bought and sold several times. Tons of fictional characters and &c. have: Remember Doug, which used to play on Nickelodeon? The rights to it were bought by Disney: That's why they affixed the company name to the front of it and began playing it on their networks.

In other words, intellectual concepts CAN be bought and sold. When they aren't protected by copyright, there's really no basis, but it can still be done.
Meh.

I have honestly had my fursona for my entire life, even back when I drew little doodles of myself as a Tiger-Striped cat back in kindergarden. She' developed over the years along with my art abilities and style.
If I sold her, I would imediately regret what I had done. And It would be even worse if pornographic comics of her started poping up everywhere. She's a part of my soul, she is my soul, me. I'd be dead if she was gone.

Like most people said, my fursona is part of me and I'm not sure I could part with the deepest part of my imagination.

To the question of whether I could sell my fursona, or any other character I've created?  Absolutely not.  Furthermore, the kind of person or business who would offer money for someone else's character is the kind of person/business I would want no part in dealing with.

However, there is a circumstance under which I could part with my characters, and that's if I'm dead.  Morbid to think about, I know, but there's already a provision in my will to transfer my characters to someone else, to keep Natasha and Svetlana "alive".  Is that weird?  :-)

No I wouldn't because my fursona is in a way, me. I have also had this character since before I became a furry, and as a furry 2 or so years - so in total about 5 years!

You could think of it as giving up your favourite teddy from your childhood or something. Would anyone do that?

Is that weird?  :-)

No, I think it is a good idea actually :)

Its not that hard to make a Fursona.

It's not hard at all. If you are being basic just choose an animal you like and clothe it. As for it's backstory just use your own life story or make one up (Probably the hard part for people?)
