What's YOUR style?
« on: December 16, 2010, 11:57:37 pm »
I always like hearing how people define their artwork.
I have been told that my artwork learns towards a realism side.

What do you think your style is?

Shit...

I really can't stand my art. I'd probably put it under cartoony or doodlish... I guess.

I'd like to say my style is kind of half 'cartoony' and half 'cutesy' style. With uhh, some realistic aspects occassionally?

I try my best to make it seem as anatomically correct as possible, so that it actually makes sense and to give the characters a sense that they could actually move around or 'exist', but I am a Sparkledog artist at heart and I love to tamper and 'stylise' aspects of animals. Eyes, tounge, and tails especially. You'll notice I give most of my drawings great big tails and sparkley eyes.

I can also change my style though. I do a lot of 'realistic' drawings (traditionally, I can't seem to leave my 'great big black pen inky brush of smooth deliciousness alone when I do it digitally) in my spare time, with normal shaped eyes, thin tails, thick necks (I like to thin them out a little, and add a scruff instead c: ) and all that. I don't often share those with the internet though :c

...But, uhh, I can't really give it a specific genre of art. Kinda a cute-cartoony style usually.
Someone once told me my drawings were like photos, both rough and smooth and soft at the same time. I have no idea what that means 8D

I don't really like to lable my art but I have to say definitly Cartoony, because my definition of cartoons is "simplified reality". As my cartoon style is fairly simple with not a whole lot of detail. And My other style I consider cartoony but more darker with a bit more detail added. When I do traditional I go all real.

Hmmm... I kinda mixed realism and cartoonism. But since my skill level is not very high, I don't really have a style.

A mix between anime and twisted art styles; incredibly stylized, nonetheless.

Generally realistic, sometimes a bit more traditionally toony for digitals
Oversized tails, quite prominent ears, I also tend to overdo the lip bifurcation on applicable animals
Super-expressive; I'm not sure how or why but people often comment it
and I'm not sure how to describe this either but "grounded" I try and keep even my floating sort of pictures having a sense of space and gravity, alot of artists seem to forego this, or maybe they just don't think about it...
really saturated colours, my greys often turn blue, browns become red and orange, if your not really specific about colours with me the will be bright
Darkness as opposed to light; I shade, I rarely highlight, though I kinda wanna get out of this habit

Wow, that was fairly detailed, actually made me think about what makes my art "mine", might do an FA journal on something similar and get some other opinions...
Hopefully the above post made sense...

Shit would be an accurate way to describe my style, but I guess cartoony or doodlish work for me as well, and unfortunately I can't stand my art either...

I'm gonna be talking about my writing... I hope that's okay ;3

Anyway, I ADORE Fantasy Fiction, but I always tend to make it darker, to the levels of very gritty Steampunk.  Lots of death, sex and crime, but with a little grain of interpretative morality stuffed in there.

I have no idea what my art style is. I've been told it's quite unique! But I draw monsters and things with big teeth, and exaggerate tails, claws, and teeth. I focus on an action line when I start a sketch. That's MY style; when I draw anthros for requests and the like, I don't know what my style is. But it's not very unique. x)

I'm heavily influenced by American cartoons and comics, like those in the newspaper funnies section. I tend to exaggerate one characteristic of a character (aka EYEBROWS or GOATEE or HAIR), and I try to keep characters relatively simple and easy to draw. This helps a LOT when drawing comics, in my opinion.

I also draw silly expressions way too much. c:
