"Those Shows are for Little Kids" -Or Are They?
« on: January 11, 2011, 12:44:22 am »
So, recently we got a few channels with programming for young children. But, some of the titles I have seen are ones that I remember from when I was that age. And you cannot forget the wonders of youtube.

So, we may be past that age that these shows are directed at, but some of them are still loved.

Now, I know I am not the only one who still enjoys watching clips from back in the day, so who else out there has caught some of their old favourites?

Remember that time with that thing when it ran to that place that was in that city and then exploded.  There was also that time when the other guy with that birth mark who killed that one but the other day when that thing happened to that person.

Totally. I wouldn't say Hey Arnold was for "little kids" though.

Franklin all the way!

Franklin
was my LIFE back in the day. Oh my gosh, I had every book, saw every episode at least five times each; I loved it to an unhealthy degree. Between that, Little Bear, and Maggie and the Beast, it's a wonder I every managed to drag myself away from the TV to color at all.
And that's why they call me Duino Duck- Drake of Daring, Mandarin of Magnificence, Water Fowl of West Seattle!

Sam & Max: Freelance Police - cartoon based on the games...which I believe was cancelled.

Shawn The Sheep - claymation from the same people that brought us Wallace + Gromit...I still watch this now.

The Ferals - Aussie show I was told about a few years ago...blows most UK shows out of the water.

Are we all forgetting about that clue over there?
Yes, Blues Clues.
Best show ever.

Funny thing is Steve was in Hollywood attempting to get a contract from a record label when he was hired for the show. :P
Still, Blues' Clues is great. When they replaced Steve I was devastated. The show's still running on television, but Blue has been remade into a puppet(and the sole host-- They added intelligible speech) and it's following the blatant musical trend that all kids' shows seem to want to now.

Oh, and one thing: Sesame Street. Not as it is now, but the classic Sesame Street. I have the fire station episode on VHS somewhere.
Meh.

I loved inspector gadget, even when I was a little kid.

Although Blues clues was probably my fave.

Aardman FTW.
Everyone I know likes Shaun the Sheep to some extent, regardless of whether they're a furry or not, I was neve mad on it, but Wallace and Gromit is unbelievably awesome. It's definitely one of the best animated film series I've ever seen.

I can't remember but there was this one show where there was basically a family of anthro lions that read books. I remember it being a pretty good show for awhile till it suddenly stopped playing and made a very sad Mudd-Child. Also they were in, like, a giant library mansion.

Pretty sure this children show somehow relates me to being a furry today... somehow.

Between the Lions, which is an obvious pun on "reading between the lines," is the title of the show you're thinking of.

And on the furry thing, I was just thinking about that: Has anyone noticed the particularly friendly animal characters in pretty much 100% of children's programming, all displaying human-like characteristics or behavior? The fact that we had these characters presented to us in childhood, and that we're part of this fandom now,  might not be a coincidence, if you think about it.
Meh.
